Railway History of Egypt


Mohamed Aly Viceroy of Egypt,was reluctant to sign up for the proposed Railway from Cairo to Suez. It is recorded that he was reluctant to bring in foreign influence. The same can be said abouthis reluctance on deciding on the building of the suez canal.
Later Khedive Abbas Helmy 1,was convinced by the British to approve the Railroads.
The first leg was from Alexandria to Kafrel Zayat,and it was Stephensons Company that delievered the first Locomotives
